What's your ideology / what kind of trainer are you?

I don't label myself as positive, balanced, etc, because I don't believe in one-method-fits-all. How I train is flexible to ensure dog-focused training, as I adjust to meet the ideal learning needs of each dog as an individual. My ultimate goal is to provide clarity so the dog can make informed choices, with the understanding that what motivates behavior varies. I consider genetics, experience history, current social dynamics, emotional state, and desires when training.

What equipment Do you use?

The short answer is I use what I feel is appropriate for each dog. My priority is consistency, especially when learning and when behaviors need time to turn into a habit. The proper usage of tools can help the dog receive consistent appropriate feedback from different humans, and they enable energy to be focused in different aspects of a relationship. A discussion will always be had about training needs and possible outcomes, and owners have influence in the training plan.

how do you take payment?

I accept cash, check, and Venmo. For all packages, 50% is required in advance to secure your dog’s training dates, with the remaining 50% due before the completion of the package. Please plan accordingly for your financial needs. In an effort to make dog training accessible, payment schedules are an option.

Can I do a shorter Board and Train?

Consistency over time is needed to address old patterns and form new habits. Taking my time ensures that your dog's well-being is prioritized while they adapt and learn. This program is limited so that your dog is integrated into my home and treated as a family member, not rotated from a kennel of 10+ other dogs.
All Board & Trains include optional Weekends at Home, which allow you to practice implementing new structure and catch up with your pup.

How early can my puppy start training?

Training can start from the day your pup comes home, but remember that they are puppies! Between birth and 6 months of age, my focus is on controlled exposure to new things and presenting consistent rules and boundaries, while respecting their needs as a young dog. This type of training is important to develop their emotional stability and a healthy relationship with you, which helps prevent future problems. Obedience and formal commands can always be trained later.

Is it too late to train my older dog?

While your dog may seem stuck in their habits, change starts with addressing your relationship and interactions. For most adult dogs, adaptation to new structure is possible because needs shift with age. A Board and Train may be the best option to implement changes and different rules, depending on the circumstances.
